About the role
The Cashier position at Samaritan's Purse in Boone, NC is a full-time opportunity where you will assist in the Food Services department. Your primary responsibilities include receiving payments, serving food, and assisting with various tasks as needed.
Responsibilities
- Receive payments via cash, check, credit card, and Employee ID Badge.
- Compute and record transactions per Samaritans Purse policy.
- Issue receipts and change to customers.
- Maintain clean and orderly work stations.
- Assist with set up and clean up for daily lunch period and banquets.
- Assist with cleaning other areas as requested.
- Assist with food preparation and service as directed.
- Count money in cash drawer at beginning and end of shift.
- Ensure there is adequate change, and maintain change in the safe and make change at the bank weekly.
- Process paperwork and reporting of dining room sales.
- Keep accurate records of all inter-departmental direct bill charges.
- Post all charges per Samaritans Purse policy.
- Stock and replenish inventory in the cashier area.
- Stock and replenish inventory in the cashier area.
- Control carryout-ware and service/distribution thereof.
- Maintain reservation log for dining room tables and communicate with Manager.
- Submit bi-weekly food orders for front of house.
- Submit inventory of front-of-house items on a quarterly basis.
- Assist with other various cashier tasks to include greeting and thanking customers, resolving any dining area complaints, maintaining a steady flow of employees and guests at the cashier area, requesting help when needed, and answering cashier phone in a timely manner.
Qualifications & Experience
- A High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Previous cashier and food preparation experience is helpful, but not required.
- Advanced math skills.
- General knowledge of hospitality and guest satisfaction practices.
- Ability to convey a positive, polite, and professional image to the public and to employees.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and high level of Christian integrity.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work as part of a team, developing and maintaining constructive and cooperative working relationships.
- General knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Strong customer service skills and service orientation, including ability to answer questions about pricing and food items.
- Active listening skills and effective two-way communication.
- Ability to work productively under pressure and meet deadlines.
