Cashier

About the role

Responsible for use of cash registers, electronic scanners, and related equipment to conduct monetary transactions with guests.

Responsibilities

• Greets guests on arrival and regards on departure in a warm and inviting manner.
• Checks cashier supplies such as register tape upon arrival to ensure there is enough for the shift.
• Operates point-of-sale (POS) systems to process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Prepares and sells all food items on the menu and handles all monetary transactions, such as cash, checks, credit/debit cards, and comps from guests as payment.
• Ensures accuracy in computing bill on cash register; makes correct change and issues receipt.
• Closes register at end of each shift to include counting down drawer and completing necessary paperwork.
• Greets guests warmly, provides attentive service, and addresses inquiries or complaints professionally.
• Promotes loyalty programs, ongoing promotions, or venue offers to enhance guest engagement.
• Restocks shelves, organizes work area, and keeps the workstation area clean and orderly.
• Returns cash to the main bank, leaves a copy of shift checkout in the Restaurant Mailbox.
• Cleans and sanitizes food service equipment used to prepare and serve menu items.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of daily menus and prices.
• Interacts with guests to maintain great guest relations and provide opportunities for loyalty.
• Ensures and maintains cleanliness and orderliness of workstation.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Follows safety, security, and company policies related to cash handling and guest interactions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One to three months experience in food & beverage or related field.
• Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Must obtain and maintain Serv-Safe certificate.
• Must obtain and maintain a valid racing license.

Skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under stress in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic math skills and proficiency with POS systems.
• Strong communication and guest service skills to interact efficiently with guests.
• Basic knowledge of menu items and guest service.

Pay

$15.00 per hour

• Required to stand for the duration of the shift.
• Frequently required to sit or stand; walk; use hands to finger, reach, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
• May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
• May be required to work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
• Work environment may vary in levels of crowds, noise, and smoke, depending on the assigned station and guest volume.
