Cashier

Responsibilities

• Be visible and actively greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand and handle various tenders including Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Adhere to policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with store promotions and adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Follow safety programs by identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notifying store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and reporting items needing repair.
• Create a welcoming environment by answering questions about products sold within the department and throughout the store.
• Comply with local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in high-paced and sometimes stressful environments.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
• Support and assist through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Previous experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk is desired.
