Cashier

About the role

Restaurant Depot is seeking Cashiers to manage all transactions with customers accurately and efficiently. Cashiers handle receiving payments, issuing receipts, and tracking cash, check, and credit transactions. The role requires previous customer service experience and knowledge of cash register operation, with occasional evening and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Manage transactions with customers using cash registers.
• Scan goods and ensure pricing and product information is accurate.
• Collect payments in cash, check, or credit.
• Issue receipts and change as necessary.
• Resolve customer complaints, guide them, and provide relevant information.
• Maintain clean and tidy checkout areas.
• Perform other work‑related duties as required and assigned, including work in other departments as needed.

Requirements

• Work experience as a retail cashier or in a similar sales role.
• Basic PC knowledge.
• Familiarity with electronic equipment such as cash registers and POS systems.
• Good math skills.
• Strong communication and time management skills.
• Customer‑satisfaction orientation.

Physical Demands

• Walking/standing on concrete up to 10 hours per day.
• Frequent turning, standing, reaching, stooping, and/or bending.
• Frequent pushing/pulling objects weighing 500 to 1,500 lb.
• Frequent lifting/carrying objects over 60 lb.

Work Environment

• Frequent exposure to cold/freezing temperatures.
• Equipment in motion (forklifts, electric pallet jacks, scooters).

Schedule

Full‑Time/Part‑Time, hourly, 6‑8 hour shifts; occasional evening and weekend shifts; union position.
