Cashier

About the role

Fry’s Food Stores, now part of The Kroger Company, seeks a Cashier/Checker to create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service. This role requires maintaining a safe and clean environment, demonstrating company core values, and adhering to food safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Visibly greet, engage, and assist customers in the check lane.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the POS system.
• Handle various tenders like Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures according to company policy.
• Report and adhere to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages, and work honestly to control loss.
• Understand and report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of any items needing repair.
• Create a welcoming environment by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Basic math knowledge (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Desired previous job experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
