Cashier

Responsibilities

• Provide outstanding customer experience through exceptional service.
• Establish and maintain a safe and clean environment to encourage customer return.
• Demonstrate company core values: respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
• Actively greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently using the Point of Sale (POS) system.
• Handle various tenders: Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, complex loyalty offers, and coupons according to company policy.
• Understand and adhere to company limits on cash shortages and/or overages to control loss.
• Understand and adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues; notify store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of needed repairs.
• Create an environment where customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering product-related questions.
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws, and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve customer and business issues.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Requirements

• Customer service experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Qualifications

Desired previous job experience:

• Customer service experience.
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.
