Cashier Associate
Job Summary
Increases customer confidence and loyalty by providing accurate, fast, and courteous customer checkout services. Manages lane operations, ensures customer satisfaction, and maintains financial responsibility.
Essential Responsibilities
Creates a welcoming environment to enhance customer confidence and loyalty.
Escalates customer concerns to management with a positive attitude.
Stocks front-end products, restocks supplies, and manages lane operations to maintain service standards.
Assists in training new cashiers.
Scanning and Handling Payments
Uses POS system to handle various tender types including Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, Reward offers, coupons, and checkout procedures.
Adheres to company policy on cash shortages, overages, restricted sale items, and loss prevention.
Customer Service and Checkout
Aids customers in unloading purchases, packing items, checking prices, and loading groceries into vehicles.
Collects shopping carts and returns them to designated areas.
Store Operations and Compliance
Maintains safety, sanitation, and productivity standards.
Ensures adherence to regulatory compliance requirements, including USDA and COOL guidelines.
Executes product recalls and ensures safe removal of recalled items.
Reports and addresses safety risks, incidents, and illegal activities.
Enforces safety protocols and inspects for unsafe conditions.
Ensures equipment is in good repair and reports/remedies safety hazards.
Supervisory and Safety Duties
Cultivates a culture of safety within the store.
Ensures adherence to wage and hour policies and regulations.
Ensures associates receive necessary safety training and personal protective equipment is used.
Qualifications
High School/GED Diploma preferred.
Customer service skills, effective communication, and basic computer skills required.
Knowledge of compliance with company policies and procedures, high integrity, and reliable authorization to work in the US or ability to obtain it.
Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check required.
Environmental Factors
Medium physical demands: standing, walking, reaching, carrying, pushing, lifting up to 30 lbs., sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing up to 10 ft.
Exposure to various working conditions: indoor, outdoor, cold, freezing, heated, wet/humid, loud noise, skin irritants, nuisance dust, fumes, sprays, hazardous cleaning solutions, toxins.
Use of personal protective equipment: goggles, gloves, back brace.
