About the role
The Cash Office Clerk supports daily operations of Guest Services by ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures, meeting departmental goals, and addressing business needs. This role plays a key part in maintaining store profitability through accurate cash office balancing, cash management, and collaboration with the Guest Services team.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a thorough understanding of back-office software, cash recycler operations, register processes, and cash handling policies.
- Balance cash drawers, lottery transactions, and other financial areas daily with accuracy.
- Accurately enter tender information and financial data into the system.
- Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the Cash Recycler Machine and other cash office equipment.
- Order necessary supplies and cash to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Identify and report discrepancies and suspicious activities to store management or through the CORE Security Platform.
- Deliver exceptional customer service by providing helpful solutions and ensuring a positive experience for guests and associates.
- Answer inquiries via phone and in-person while following proper phone etiquette and service standards.
- Collaborate with the Guest Services team to support departmental and guest needs, and work with other store associates and leaders to enhance overall store operations.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure workspace in compliance with safety standards.
- Ensure regular, timely attendance in compliance with the work schedule and provide adequate notice for schedule adjustments.
- Perform other duties as assigned and assist in other areas of the Guest Services Department as needed.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience in cash handling, financial reconciliation, balancing registers, or retail experience is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in cash handling and data entry.
- Ability to use point-of-sale systems, bookkeeping software, cash management tools, and process information/merchandise through register systems.
- Basic technical proficiency and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues; willingness to learn and operate all necessary equipment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate effectively with associates, leaders, and guests.
- Ability to remain calm and handle difficult situations effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to read, count, and write accurately.
- Ability to multitask and adhere to deadlines.
Physical Demands
- Continuous movement around the cash recycler, cash office, registers, and store; regular bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Requires fine finger and broad manual dexterity, and eye-hand-foot coordination to operate equipment.
- Ability to sit for 2-3 hours and stand for extended periods (up to 80% of the time).
- Ability to lift and handle cash trays, cash and coin deliveries, boxes of merchandise, and fixtures throughout the store.
- Ability to work early mornings, varied hours/days including weekends and holidays as needed.
