Cash Application Specialist

Responsibilities

• Apply incoming customer payments accurately and ensure all receipts are recorded by the close of each business day.
• Research unmatched or outstanding payments and take appropriate steps to resolve posting issues in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate cash application records and reconcile payment activity against customer accounts.
• Communicate with internal teams to clarify remittance details, payment variances, and account discrepancies.
• Provide support to related accounts receivable functions, including collections and billing, as business needs require.
• Use spreadsheets and reporting tools to track payment activity, identify exceptions, and assist with account analysis.

Requirements

• Prior experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or a similar accounting support role.
• Working knowledge of payment posting, account reconciliation, and cash collections processes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reviewing data, organizing records, and supporting reporting needs.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage a high volume of financial transactions accurately.
• Effective problem-solving skills for investigating unapplied cash and resolving account discrepancies.
• Able to work collaboratively with billing, collections, and other internal departments.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in an organized office environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with a focus on cash application and accounts receivable. They should be able to work independently and as part of a team, and possess excellent organizational and analytical skills.
