Casemaker Operator

Responsibilities

• Set up, adjust, and operate the Crathern Casemaker while leading/mentoring a Material Handler who is jogging the cases and piling them down at the end of the machine.
• Inspect equipment for safety issues.
• Monitor the viscosity of the animal glue utilized and adjust if needed.
• Monitor quality, output, and productivity with cases that will be applied to hardcover books.
• Read and interpret written work orders or other job specifications containing bindery requirements to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Set up and adjust machines for finishing operations, refining adjustments for the weight, color, machinability, and quality of paper stock.
• Use standard and specialized tools to adjust and maintain the functional accuracy and operating condition of the Crathern Casemaker.

Requirements

• General knowledge of complex machinery with the ability to effectively troubleshoot issues.
• Ability to read and understand measurements utilizing a line gauge to ensure product is in spec.
• Good understanding of computer programs and the ability to enter accurate data.
• Knowledge of the quality and machining requirements of various coated and uncoated types of paper stock.
• Skill in using the full range of standard and specialized tools and devices to maintain machinery.
• Ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Willingness to participate in cross-training, including achieving qualified status within the position and assuming responsibility as a back-up to lateral and progressive roles.

Pay

Starting Rate: $24.93 (Base $23.30 + 7% Shift Differential)

Schedule

6pm–6am on a rotating schedule including Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
