General purpose: run and maintain packaging equipment, including labelers, scales, conveyors, casers, stackers, coders, and related items, safely and efficiently with focus on material usage, waste reduction, sealing, coding, and weight control.
Responsibilities
- Order packaging material (paper, poly, cartons) from storage as needed
- Visually inspect boxes, cartons, and other packaged materials for printing defects
- Ensure proper sizing of product containers
- Load packaging material onto machines in a timely manner to prevent line stoppages
- Observe operation of equipment and perform necessary adjustments to meet product specifications
- Perform net weight control checks and make equipment adjustments as needed
- Communicate changes in product flow, equipment malfunctions, shortages, or deviations from specifications to Production Supervisor, maintenance, or other operators verbally and/or in writing
- Inspect packaging, coding, and seals to verify conformance to specifications and perform necessary adjustments
- Ensure the proper packaging materials are used for each product being produced
- Maintain working knowledge and experience with wrapper operations; watch for jams and effectively thread wrap to prevent downtime due to handler error
- Ensure machine is supplied with correct material and complete logbooks as required
- Ensure all paperwork is filled out clearly, legibly, and accurately with required information
- Document all required information in accordance with SOPs
- Analyze process data and equipment performance data to improve quality, throughput, and troubleshoot
- Utilize continuous improvement mindset to identify opportunities for process improvement
- Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately
- Maintain safe working conditions and comply with all state and federal health and safety regulations
- Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Warehouse, production, or general work experience preferred
- Certification and/or license may be required during course of employment

Pay
$23.25 per hour
