Case Snackshop/Concession Attendant
About the Role
Participate, oversee, and assist student staff in the preparation of “short order” style food items in the retail food service venue in Case Hall. Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory of food and supply items. Oversee and assist in proper sanitation, handling, and storage of food and supplies to ensure efficiency and reduce waste. Operate a cash register and maintain transaction controls during assigned shifts. Oversee and assist in cleaning dishes, utensils, and work areas according to sanitary standards.
This position is designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure or suspension of operations, you are expected to report to work as scheduled. If you have an approved remote work agreement, you may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of food preparation and serving techniques
- Two years of experience at the Food Service Worker level or equivalent technical training
- Willingness to work a flexible shift
- Standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation regulations
- Occasional lifting of over 75 pounds
- Valid Michigan operator’s license may be required
Qualifications
- Two to three years of employment experience in Residential and Hospitality Services
- Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with students, staff, and the public
- Commitment to delivering outstanding Spartan experiences daily
- Ability to perform simple tasks following oral and written instructions
- Familiarity with food service equipment or ability to be trained
- Knowledge of computerized registers or ability to be trained
Schedule
Monday through Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Thursday: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Friday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: Off
Physical Demands
Occasional lifting of over 75 pounds is required.
