About the role

The Case Navigator provides oversight, coordination, delivery of services, and supports to defendants diagnosed with mental illness and/or substance use disorder who are deemed eligible for participation in the behavioral health conditional dismissal program. This role involves collaboration with local courts, prosecutors, defense counsel, and other community agencies and professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct participant intake using an eligibility assessment.
  • Ensure participants complete clinical assessments within the statutory framework and assist with coordination between participants and providers.
  • Assist participants in locating and connecting to community resources.
  • Collect, maintain, and report data for the behavioral health conditional dismissal program while ensuring statutory compliance from providers and prosecutors.
  • Track participants through the court process and act as a liaison between participants and case managers to ensure compliance with the program.
  • Document interactions with clients and/or community agencies/professionals.
  • Attend court dockets and provide updates on participants’ progress as needed.
  • Maintain regular communication with participants, identify barriers, and assist with resources to help overcome them.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 4-year college degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with substance abuse treatment providers and related community resources.
  • Additional relevant work experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and the function/jurisdiction of the court.
  • Knowledge of community/private mental health and substance abuse treatment providers.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work with highly stressed individuals.
  • Extensive travel with overnight requirements.
  • Ability to work inside a Detention Center as needed.
  • Work is typically performed in an office, studio, and off-site locations.
  • Sitting for extended periods, dexterity to operate a computer, and ability to lift, bend, and stoop as needed.
  • This position is not authorized for virtual work.

Pay

Pay Grade 11

Schedule

37.5 hours per week
