About the role

This position supports the MCCMH Children's Diversion program, a 28-day crisis stabilization program under our crisis services. The role provides direct service to individuals served, family members, and designated others, implementing program activities, participating in research and program evaluation, and coordinating care with physical health care providers.

Responsibilities

• Conducts assessments, service planning, specialized and intensive case management, living skills training, crisis intervention, advocacy, linking, and monitoring for assigned individuals.
• Performs home and community-based interventions.
• Maintains department productivity and quality measures.
• Complies with Macomb County Community Mental Health (MCCMH) documentation requirements in a timely manner using an electronic medical record.
• Completes required MCCMH trainings and meets continuing education requirements as determined by professional licensing board.
• Coordinates with family, aftercare programs, and ancillary support services to secure aftercare.
• Participates in staff meetings, in-service training, and supervision with the designated Clinical Supervisor.
• Monitors services for individuals to evaluate effectiveness through face-to-face contact, facility visits, consultation with family members, significant others, service providers, and records review.
• Measures the effectiveness of interventions to determine outcomes and identify needs of individuals served.
• Operates an automobile while performing assigned job duties.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Counseling, or another mental health-related field.
• Meets qualifications as specified in the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Prepaid Inpatient Health Plan/Community Mental Health Services Program (PIHP/CMHSP) for a Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP):
  • Individual with specialized training and one (1) year of experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families, and who is a physician, psychologist, licensed or limited-licensed master’s social worker, licensed or limited-licensed professional counselor, or registered nurse; OR
  • Individual with at least a bachelor’s degree in a mental health-related field from an accredited school who is trained and has three (3) years of supervised experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families; OR
  • Individual with at least a master’s degree in a mental health-related field from an accredited school who is trained and has one (1) year of experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families.
• For Behavioral Health Treatment/Applied Behavior Analysis (BHT/ABA) services, individuals must be a Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA), Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), or Psychologist working within their scope of practice with extensive knowledge and training on behavior analysis and BCBA certified by 9/30/2020.
• Possession of required state licensure appropriate to the position and ability to meet privileging and credentialing guidelines.
• Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, Counseling, or another related field.
• Experience in Early Childhood and with severely emotionally disturbed children/adolescents.
• Attended Wraparound training (Michigan Department of Community Health sponsored) 3-day training.
• Possession of a valid Michigan Chauffer’s license.

Skills

• Knowledge of resources within MCCMH and outside of Macomb County Community Mental Health.
• Understanding of the Michigan Mental Health Code/401 criteria.
• Familiarity with mental illness, serious emotional disturbance, and developmental disabilities.
• Techniques to de-escalate/interact in potentially dangerous situations.
• Proficiency in applicable computer applications.
• Good professional judgment for the welfare and safety of individuals served.

Pay

$50,007.10 - $64,680.01 annually.

Schedule

Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The current start time for this position is 8:30 a.m.
