About the role
This position plays a crucial role in facilitating patient care by managing authorizations, referrals, discharges, and payer communication.
Responsibilities
- Obtain and record authorizations for ancillary services and handle denial reporting.
- Manage patient referrals, ensuring patient choice of facilities or agencies is honored.
- Expedite discharges by transmitting required medical documentation to external providers.
- Document all interactions with insurance payers and update relevant internal staff on authorization statuses.
Requirements
- A high school diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
Qualifications
- Professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
Skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficiency in healthcare coding and billing systems.
