Description Of Duties/Essential Functions

Under immediate supervision for a period not to exceed 12 months, receives training and on-the-job experience in caring for residents in a secured facility for violent sex offenders. Assists higher level staff in overall recipient care on various units within the Facility. Observes and communicates with residents in accordance with established treatment plans. Assists higher level staff to physically restrain residents with behavior problems. Assists in making periodic counts of residents. Transports residents to various locations throughout the state.

Minimum Requirements

Requires the ability to control, direct and restrain residents from physically harming themselves or others. Requires ability to observe resident behavior and ability to report unusual happenings.

How to Apply

To be considered for open competitive eligibility for the title of Security Therapy Aide Trainee, you must be deemed qualified by Central Management Services (CMS). Security Therapy Aide Trainee is a regularly tested title that requires an automated multiple-choice test to be taken at one of the CMS Assessment Centers. View the Examination Schedule for times and locations. Refer to Additional Title and Exam Information for specific details. You will need to bring a completed online or CMS-100 employment application with you. Applicants will not be allowed to test without a completed application. After successfully obtaining a passing grade, your name will be placed on an open competitive eligible list for Security Therapy Aide Trainee in the two counties you select on your application. If you are satisfied with the grade you received for this title, option and county, no further action is required. Your name has already been placed on the open competitive eligible list for this title and will be provided upon request to the Treatment and Detention Facility. Open competitive grades are valid for one (1) year. If you wish to retest for this title to improve your grade, you must wait thirty (30) days from the last examination date to do so. A copy of your application will be required at the time of retaking the test.
