Carrier Supervisor / Carrier Manager

Responsibilities

  • Set goals and monitor KPIs for carrier network growth, lane coverage, margin, and on-time performance.
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews (QBRs) with each carrier to evaluate performance and service trends.
  • Resolve escalated carrier or service issues.
  • Source, qualify, and onboard new asset-based carriers to reduce reliance on the brokered network.
  • Execute broker/carrier agreements and manage onboarding documentation (insurance, authority, W-9, safety packet).
  • Negotiate and establish base rates, fuel surcharges, and accessorial schedules by lane.
  • Build long-term, direct carrier partnerships to improve service and cost control.
  • Ensure onboarded carriers are load-ready across required systems (TMS, rate tables, compliance tracking).
  • Monitor ongoing carrier compliance (insurance, safety ratings, authority, CSA scores).
  • Collaborate with sales and operations to align lane rates with customer commitments.
  • Track freight market trends and adjust rate strategy to protect margin.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field (preferred).
  • 3-6+ years of experience in carrier sales, carrier management, or freight brokerage.
  • Experience in managed transportation, overseeing contracted carrier relationships governed by set rate schedules (base, fuel surcharge, accessorials).
  • Demonstrated ability to build processes from the ground up in a leaner, less tech-supported environment.
  • Experience negotiating and onboarding asset-based carriers (preferred).
  • Strong negotiation, relationship-building, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of TMS platforms and freight market/rate dynamics.
