Carpentry Instructor
About the role
The Carpentry Instructor works with the Department Head to deliver the approved course curriculum to adult students. Responsibilities include preparing and presenting instructional content, teaching in the classroom and workshops, evaluating student performance, and assisting with administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Deliver the Carpentry curriculum to adult students
- Assist with administrative duties related to the Carpentry department
- Order tools and materials
- Coordinate site work with clients
- Maintain a safe environment
- Attend faculty meetings, advisory committee meetings, and staff meetings
- Pursue other work during summer months
- Teach on-site projects such as sheds, decks, additions, garages
Requirements
- Clean driving record
- Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License (CSL) or ability to obtain one
- Five years experience working in the Carpentry field
- Prior teaching experience is a plus
- Strong and dedicated work ethic and excellent communication skills
- Familiarity with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office Suite
- Able to lift, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, and move around to work on construction of all kinds, as well as walk and stand for long periods
- Willingness to be recorded with video/audio while teaching
Qualifications
Experience in the Carpentry field, prior teaching experience, strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and familiarity with Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office Suite are required. Must be able to frequently walk up and down stairs, lift up to 50 lbs., and move from kneeling and sitting to standing repetitively with ease.
Skills
Proficiency in carpentry techniques, ability to teach various learning styles, and strong organizational and communication skills are essential.
Benefits
Health, retirement, and other benefits are available. Salary range is $70,000 – $79,000 depending upon experience.
