Carpentry Associate

About the role
The Carpentry Associate is primarily a Furniture Repair Technician, responsible for refurbishment and repair of assembled furniture and upholstery, restoration, assorted carpentry and/or woodworking. He/she will also make professionally constructed wooden crates.
Responsibilities
- Must have strong customer service skills (always respectful, understanding, and courteous).
- Repairs scratches, dents, nicks, and gouges in primarily wood and/or metal.
- Professionally matches colors and blends.
- Performs structural repair of seating, case goods, living room upholstery, etc.
- Determines whether completed furniture repairs meet quality standards.
- Improves repair process innovations and documentation.
- Builds wooden crates to size and according to the dimensions of items.
- Ensures that the crates are constructed in such a way that the items contained therein may be safely and securely transported without damage.
- Assembles and disassembles furniture and upholstery at client locations.
- Safely handles materials and operates material handling equipment to prevent injuries, prevent damage to equipment, and to ensure the quality of the product.
- May occasionally paint interior office walls, put up shelves, and perform other “handyman” duties.
- Works closely with delivery and fulfillment center teams to solve challenges and ensures quality.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Professional carpentry, woodworking, refinishing, restoration, and color matching skills.
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in operating woodworking and material handling equipment.
- Demonstrated ability (and experience with) operating a table saw, chop saw, tape measure, nail gun, and other common carpentry tools.
- Experience with other areas of precise woodworking and restoration.
- Basic English verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability and experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Must be a team player, flexible with changing schedules, and able to work at least a 40-hour schedule.
- Experience with upholstery repair.
- Prior experience in the moving industry.
Pay
$25.00 - $40.00/hour
