Functions and Responsibilities

  • Assembles different facets of a trailer, including but not limited to interior trim, fenders, rough or finished wiring, and framing, following the work order.
  • Balances productivity with quality and safety.
  • Reads and follows blueprints and work orders, ensuring a quality product that meets customer demands; performs work as assigned by the line supervisor.
  • Obtains raw materials from Material Handlers.
  • Cut material in accordance with specifications on the cut list.
  • Notifies supervisor of any mechanical or material issues, including but not limited to defects in material, damage to the trailer, and deviations from work order.
  • Ensures that the finished product meets quality expectations.
  • Strives for the highest level of quality and understands the need for continuous improvement; supports the concept of “good enough is never good enough.”
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area;
  • Works to reduce scrap, returns unused materials to the proper area, and disposes of waste properly.
  • Follows all safety procedures, wears protective equipment (PPE), and reports any accidents or near misses to the supervisor immediately.
  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required.

Desired Education/Experience

  • Minimum: hands-on experience working with a variety of power tools
  • Previous experience working in manufacturing or construction is helpful; however, on-the-job training may be provided.

  • Must be able to work quickly without sacrificing quality or safety.
  • Must have a keen understanding of manufacturing processes.
  • Must be able to measure and cut accurately.
  • Must possess the ability to creatively think and solve problems.
  • Ability to read blueprints and work orders accurately.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities.

  • Pushing and pulling – up to fifty pounds occasionally
  • Lifting – approximately 55% during the shift
  • 5-25 pounds constantly
  • Fifty pounds frequently
  • 100 pounds occasionally as a team lift
  • Bending – up to 30%
  • Climbing ladders – approximately 10%
  • Crouching – up to 40%
  • Kneeling – Limited
  • Sight with the ability to distinguish cut lines.
  • Above average coordination, including eye-hand, hand-foot, and balance.
