About the role
Kokosing is one of America's 50 largest General Contractors and services a broad spectrum of clients in both the private and public business sectors. Kokosing's services include heavy civil/industrial construction such as highways, bridges, underground utilities, water/wastewater facilities, and marine construction.
Responsibilities
Construct, erect, and repair structures for heavy civil marine projects. Form work experience preferred.
- Select specified type of lumber or other materials
- Prepare layout
- Measure boards, timbers, or plywood, and marks cutting lines on materials;
- Shape materials to prescribed measurements
- Nail cleats (braces) across boards to construct concrete-supporting forms
- Brace forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts, for use in building concrete piers, footing, and walls;
- Assemble cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue
- Set expansion dams
- Assemble or run overhang modules or stick built overhangs
- Climb wingwalls, retaining walls
- Assemble wood deck forms
- Construct forms and chutes for pouring concrete
- Assist in pouring of concrete
- Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level
Requirements
- Experience in formwork;
- Carpenter Training Program or equivalent experience for Carpenter Helpers
Skills
- Able to work while tied off to fall protection
- Able to work or walk on uneven ground
- Able to walk, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Skilled in use of necessary hand and power tools
- Able to work with level
- Read and understand blueprints, sketches, or bridge plans for information pertaining to type of material required
- Read tape measure
- Lift/move up to 100 pounds
Pay
Expected base pay range for this position is: $28.00/hr - $35.00/hr
