Carpenter-Solar

Responsibilities

• Install solar panels.
• Work with and install doors, hardware, trim, cabinetry, ceiling materials and millwork.
• Build rough wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports and temporary frame shelters according to sketches, blueprints or verbal instructions.
• Measure boards, timbers or plywood using various tools.
• Saw boards and plywood panels to required sizes, bracing forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts.
• Build framework to strengthen, protect, or disguise buildings undergoing construction.
• Erect scaffolding for buildings and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms and gangways.
• Install rough frames and bracing them with boards nailed to framework.
• Install subflooring in buildings.
• Weld parts to steel structural members.

Requirements

• Proficiency in sawing boards and plywood panels to required sizes.
• Ability to measure and construct according to sketches, blueprints or verbal instructions.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
• Physical ability to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Union carpentry certification preferred.

Skills

• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Good communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of construction techniques and materials.
