Responsibilities
- Install solar panels.
- Work with and install doors, hardware, trim, cabinetry, ceiling materials and millwork.
- Build rough wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports and temporary frame shelters according to sketches, blueprints or verbal instructions.
- Measure boards, timbers or plywood using various tools.
- Saw boards and plywood panels to required sizes, bracing forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts.
- Build framework to strengthen, protect, or disguise buildings undergoing construction.
- Erect scaffolding for buildings and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms and gangways.
- Install rough frames and bracing them with boards nailed to framework.
- Install subflooring in buildings.
- Weld parts to steel structural members.
Requirements
- Proficiency in sawing boards and plywood panels to required sizes.
- Ability to measure and construct according to sketches, blueprints or verbal instructions.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and practices.
- Physical ability to perform tasks requiring lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Union carpentry certification preferred.
Skills
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Good communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of construction techniques and materials.
