CARPENTER HELPER- Austin Industrial

Responsibilities

• Assist Craft Journeyman in the assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools.
• Assist in diagnosing malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of breakdowns and correct problems.
• Gather tools and supplies for use at the work site.
• Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit using a ruler and hand tools.
• Drill holes for wiring using a power drill and pull or push wiring through openings.
• Trace out short circuits in wiring using knowledge of wiring and test meters.
• Assist in lifting, positioning, or fastening objects.
• Perform minor repairs.
• Disassemble defective equipment, replace worn or defective parts, and reassemble equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Legally authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States (Austin is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this position).
• Valid Driver’s License and TWIC Card.
• 1 - 2 years of Helper level experience.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear, and taste or smell.
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
