Carpenter

Key Responsibilities

• Working from blue prints, specifications, drawings and instructions to design, build, remodel, retrofit, maintain and repair various types of facilities and structures.
• Design, build, install, and repair structural woodwork, flooring, ceilings and cabinetry.
• Operate, maintain, and calibrate hand and power carpentry tools.
• Recognize and select appropriate lumber types and grades.
• Make rough sketches, estimate cost, time and materials of carpentry projects.
• Respond to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service.
• Clean, maintain, adjust, calibrate and service tools and equipment used in the performance of duties.
• Inspect completed work for conformance with specifications, requirements and compliance with applicable building and safety codes and regulations.
• Estimate cost, time and materials for carpentry projects.
• Research, purchase and inventory equipment parts, chemicals and supplies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in both rough and finished carpentry in commercial/industrial settings.
• Applicable building and safety code requirements.
• Methods and practices followed in the maintenance of tools, machinery, and equipment.
• Knowledge of building architectural/structural elements including; alterations and repairs.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Adaptable and flexible in work situations.
• Prioritizes tasks to ensure completion in a timely manner.
• PRACTICES WORKPLACE SAFETY in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in repair of HVAC equipment.
• Including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years experience in the carpentry trade.
• Valid driver's license compliant with REAL ID Act or willing and able to obtain one.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50lbs unassisted.
• Use of hands, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and walking.
• Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting, or stooping.
• Climbing ladders and entering confined spaces.
• Lifting and adjusting heavy objects, contact with sharp, hot and/or very cold supplies and equipment.
• Work both indoors and outdoors in various temperatures (some extreme) and weather conditions.

Preferred Qualification

• Formal apprenticeship.
