Responsibilities
- Construct, erect, install and repair structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, metal and wallboard using hand tools and power tools.
- Work with and install doors, hardware, trim, cabinetry, ceiling materials and millwork.
- Build rough wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnel and sewer supports and temporary frame shelters according to sketches, blueprints or verbal instructions.
- Examine specifications to determine dimensions of structures and measure boards, timbers or plywood using various tools.
- Saw boards and plywood panels to required sizes, brace forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts, and build framework to strengthen, protect, or disguise buildings undergoing construction.
- Erect scaffolding for buildings and install ladders, handrails, walkways, platforms and gangways.
- Install rough frames and bracing them with boards nailed to framework.
- Install subflooring in buildings.
- Weld parts to steel structural members as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Must be able to lift up to 80 pounds.
- Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience in carpentry or related field preferred.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
Skills
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
