Qualifications
- High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- State of Michigan residential builder’s license or completion of Detroit Carpentry Joint Apprentice School with journeyman card.
- Furnish proof of at least six years continuous full-time experience in the carpentry trade at the journeyman level.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the carpentry trade.
- Experience in layout, print reading, construction techniques, and knowledge of construction materials and applications.
- Thorough knowledge of materials, methods, tools, and equipment of the structural maintenance trade.
- Ability to perform work requiring frequent standing, reaching, walking, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing on a ladder, and lifting up to 60 pounds.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the University’s insurance carrier.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of commercial roofing systems and proper repair methods.
- Ability to perform masonry/concrete repairs.
Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional, and desired qualifications are preferred. Qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University may be considered.
About the Role
Under general supervision, lays out and performs finished and rough carpentry work on construction, alterations, and maintenance, and performs other tasks related to facilities maintenance.
