What this job involves
As a Carpenter at JLL, you will support campus facility operations by performing skilled carpentry work including the installation, maintenance, and repair of wood and composite structures, fixtures, furniture, and finishes across campus buildings. This role plays an important part in maintaining safe, functional, and professional environments for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
What your day-to-day will look like
- Construct, install, maintain, and repair doors, frames, cabinets, shelving, furniture, and other wood or composite structures
- Respond to work orders and complete preventative maintenance and repair tasks in a timely manner
- Install and repair door hardware, locks, closers, wall-mounted equipment, whiteboards, and display fixtures
- Perform repairs to classroom furniture, lecture hall seating, desks, and office furnishings
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical specifications to complete projects accurately
- Support renovation and construction projects while coordinating with other building trades as needed
- Maintain safe work practices and ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a formal carpentry apprenticeship program or 3–5 years of commercial/institutional carpentry experience
- Proficiency using carpentry hand tools, power tools, and related equipment
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and technical specifications
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and carpentry best practices
- A valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work from ladders, scaffolding, and confined spaces
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in higher education or institutional facility environments
- Familiarity with ADA compliance and accessibility standards
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems
- Experience using CMMS or computerized work order systems
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
