Responsibilities
- Aid in the assembly and removal of concrete forms for concrete installation.
- Assist in building and installing window frames, doors, doorframes, staircases, stairways, partitions, millwork, trim, siding, and overall building frames.
- Ensure that flooring, roofing, and drywall layouts are level and compatible.
- Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to understand project requirements.
- Measure and calculate the size and amount of materials needed, including cutting, shaping, and smoothing wood or other materials.
- Handle, transport, and set door frames.
- Load, unload, identify, and distribute building materials, machinery, and tools.
- Job shadow in assigned areas to gain project knowledge and skill progression.
- Assist with area housekeeping.
- Promote a safe work environment and communicate jobsite hazards.
- Secure the jobsite at the end of each day and verify proper storage of site materials.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver’s License required.
- Follow safe work practices in accordance with Hensel Phelps’ safety and health program.
- Able to take initiative and ask questions.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Must provide own safety footwear.
- Effective communication skills and professional demeanor.
- Strong mathematical reasoning and quantitative skills.
- Reliable and punctual with consistent work attendance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in construction layout, blueprint reading, and shop drawing reading.
- OSHA 10 Certification.
- CPR & First Aid Certification.
Essential Duties
- Assist with assembly and removal of concrete forms used for concrete installation.
- Assist with building and installing window frames, doors, doorframes, staircases, stairways, partitions, millwork, trim, siding, drywall, and overall building frames.
- Ensure that layout of flooring, roofing, and drywall are leveled and compatible.
- Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp project requirements.
- Measure and calculate the size and amount of material needed. This includes cutting, shaping, and smoothing wood or other required materials according to requested measurements.
- Assist with handling, transporting, and setting door frames.
- Load, unload, identify, and distribute building materials, machinery, and tools.
- Job shadow in area assignments to ensure project knowledge and skill progression.
- Assist with area housekeeping.
- Promote a safe work environment and communicate jobsite hazards.
- This includes helping to secure the jobsite at the end of business each day and verifying that all site materials are properly stored.

- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in various directions for various lengths of time.
- Grasping: Regular application of pressure to objects with fingers and palm.
- Visual Acuity: Ability to see and operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate.
- Exposure to High/Low Temperatures: Frequent exposure to high and low temperatures.
- Outdoor Elements: Frequent exposure to outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.
- Use of Hands/Wrists: Frequent use of hands and wrists with various tools.
- Use of Tools: Frequent use of jackhammers, pavement breakers, wheelbarrows, and brooms.
- Repetitive Use of Hands/Wrists: Frequent repetitive use of hands and wrists using power, rotational, and vibration tools.
- Tolerance: Tolerance for legally permissible exposure to dusts and chemicals, such as cement dust, solvents, and curing compounds.
- Wearing Respirators: Ability to safely wear a respirator.
