About the role
The Carpenter is a skilled tradesperson responsible for the construction, installation, repair, and finishing of structures and fixtures built from wood, drywall, metal framing, and other construction materials. This role requires the ability to read blueprints and technical plans, perform quality workmanship safely and efficiently, and collaborate with project teams to ensure projects are completed on schedule and to Flynn standards.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, and technical plans.
- Measure, cut, shape, and install wood, drywall, metal framing, and other construction materials.
- Install doors, windows, cabinets, trim, blocking, framing, drywall, and related fixtures.
- Build foundations, frameworks, partitions, and other structural components as required.
- Perform demolition, site preparation, and general carpentry tasks.
- Follow approved project specifications, drawings, and installation requirements.
- Complete punch list and corrective work assignments as directed.
- Complete assigned tasks safely, accurately, and within established project schedules.
- Collaborate effectively with subcontractors and other trades to support project goals.
- Participate in quality control inspections and project walkthroughs.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and jobsite-specific safety procedures.
- Attend daily toolbox talks, safety meetings, and required training programs.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain awareness of jobsite hazards and immediately report unsafe conditions.
- Ensure work complies with applicable building codes, project specifications, and safety regulations.
- Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of debris.
- Participate in daily jobsite cleanup activities.
- Accurately complete and submit time sheets and required documentation.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of carpentry experience in residential and/or commercial construction.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and construction documents.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable transportation to and from assigned jobsites.
- Commercial construction experience.
- Experience working on retail, hospitality, fitness, restaurant, or other commercial projects.
- Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship or trade certification program.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience working across a variety of project types and construction environments.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, and perform physically demanding work throughout the day.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and active construction environments.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as required to support project schedules.
Qualifications
- Commercial construction experience.
- Experience working on retail, hospitality, fitness, restaurant, or other commercial projects.
- Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship or trade certification program.
