About the role
Responsible for carpentry related maintenance and repair of City buildings. Work is performed under supervision of a Foreman in accordance with accepted trade practices with review through inspections during process and upon completion for conformance to established departmental standards. Supervision may be exercised over assigned helpers.
Essential Functions
- Constructs, alters, and repairs City structures.
- Repairs and maintains doors, hinges, drywall, suspended ceilings, tile, outside decks and stairs.
- Builds offices, classrooms, closets through framing, dry walling and trimming.
- Installs whiteboards, shelving and overhead screens.
- Performs related work as required.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Considerable knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, equipment processes, and techniques of the work performed.
- Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in work performed.
- Some knowledge of the fundamentals of a variety of skilled trades.
- Ability to work from written and oral instructions, sketches, and drawings.
- Ability to supervise the work of assigned helpers.
- Skill in the use and care of tools, equipment, and materials employed in the work performed.
Education And Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent, including or supplemented by training in a specialized trade.
- Minimum of three years of experience in the work performed.
