About the role

Build and maintain assets that support our community! As a member of our team, you won't just work for the city; you’ll co-create it. Here, your ideas and efforts directly shape the places where you and your community live, work, and play. In this hands-on role, you'll deliver a wide range of carpentry and joinery services across City of Newcastle's asset portfolio, including construction, maintenance, repairs, and improvement works. From community facilities to public buildings and infrastructure, you'll help ensure our assets remain safe, functional, and well-maintained.

We're seeking someone with strong carpentry and joinery experience, a commitment to quality and safety, and the ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment. You'll bring a practical approach to problem-solving, sound knowledge of building construction and maintenance, and pride in delivering high-quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform carpentry and joinery services for construction, maintenance, repairs, and improvement works across City of Newcastle’s asset portfolio
  • Ensure assets remain safe, functional, and well-maintained
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Apply practical problem-solving skills and knowledge of building construction

Requirements

  • Qualified Carpenter and Joiner with strong experience in the trade
  • Commitment to quality workmanship and safety
  • Ability to work independently and contribute positively to a team
  • Right to live and work in Australia

Pay

$81,757.73 per annum + 17.5% annual leave loading yearly payment + 12% Superannuation for a 38-hour week.

Schedule

Permanent, full-time role (38 hours per week) with flexible work arrangements, including an optional 9-day fortnight.
