About the role
Volunteers provide caring companionship to hospice patients and their loved ones. Regular visits offer respite and relief for caregivers, and patients enjoy passing time with a new visitor. The simple act of presence and companionship brings joy and comfort and is mutually rewarding.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Cannot accept court-ordered community service
Screening & onboarding process
Upon receiving a completed application, the following are required before visits can be scheduled:
- Interview
- Background check
- Drug screening
- Fingerprint screening
- TB test
Support & training
- Volunteer orientation provided
- Supportive staff welcome volunteers to the team
Safety
Volunteer safety and satisfaction are the greatest concern; the organization adheres to all protocols necessary for protection and peace of mind.
