Cargo Superintendent

About the role

BigLift Shipping B.V., a world leader in heavy cargo transport, is seeking a Cargo Superintendent to join their global operations team. This role involves overseeing the safe, precise, and efficient execution of heavy lift and heavy transport cargo operations on board vessels worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Preparing load and discharge operations (including stowage, lifting, lashing, securing, ballast and shipping manuals).
• Preparing, pre-planning, and coordinating cargo loading and discharge operations worldwide.
• Prepare stability, accelerations and sea fastening calculations, as well as materials and external assistance as defined in the ISM procedures.
• Be the single point of contact for the client on-site for/during cargo operations.
• Reporting on cargo operations (when attending) as defined in the company procedures.
• Updating stowage plans according to actual stowage on board.
• Maintaining contact and informing vessels, agents and clients with all required information for cargo operations according to the company procedures.
• Conducting surveys of ports, vessels, quays, cargoes etc.

Requirements

• Nautical and/or technical background on senior vocational level.
• Significant experience with marine operations in the heavy lift and heavy transport sector.
• Proven ability to delegate and coordinate complex activities.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• A collaborative, team-oriented mindset.
• A heavy transport expert with a good safety attitude, who is not afraid to think outside the box and to take responsibility for the execution of complex projects.
• Understanding of environmental aspects relevant to marine operations.
• Fully fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written).
