Cargo Screening K9 Handler IAD

Job Summary

Full‑Time position as a Cargo Screening K9 Handler with Global K9 Protection Group LLC, responsible for conducting explosive detection screening operations as part of the security team.

Responsibilities

• Conduct screening operations for explosives and other hazardous materials using a trained Explosive Detection Canine.
• Maintain administrative records for work and training.
• Provide housing, care, maintenance, and welfare for the assigned canine.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen or national.
• Pass the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Security Threat Assessment.
• High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.
• Valid driver’s license (Real ID) and reliable transportation.
• Pass background check and drug screen.
• Obtain a Known Traveler Number (TSA Pre‑Check) through TSA.
• Comply with any state or local licensing requirements.
• Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English to follow written and oral instructions.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Exercise sound judgment in all areas of responsibility.
• Maintain effective professional relationships with employees, external individuals, and agencies.
• Ability to understand and handle various operational issues.

Special Requirements

• Complete a TSA third‑party Canine Handler Certification prior to starting work (provided by GK9PG).
• Complete the Global K9 Solutions Explosive Detection Canine Cargo Handler Course (8 weeks for non‑experienced handlers, 4 weeks for experienced handlers); training location: Opelika, AL.
• Potential pathway to direct hire pending K9 review and certification from a recognized training course.
