Cargo Screening Agent
About the Role
This role is responsible for carrying out Air Cargo Security Screening in strict adherence to the Menzies Aviation Security Program (MSP) and Air Cargo Security Implementation Plan (ACISP), while following the MA Safety Policy. This includes wearing PPE, operating equipment safely, following lifting procedures, and obeying speed limits when driving company vehicles and equipment.

Responsibilities
- Carry out cargo screening functions to detect IEDs, IED components, or other destructive substances in air cargo
- Operate screening equipment such as X-ray and Explosive Trace Detection (ETD) machines
- Identify dangerous objects in cargo using ETD equipment, visual inspection, and physical search
- Prevent dangerous objects from being transported onto aircraft
- Complete required equipment start-up procedures and documentation for ETD and X-ray machines
- Use handheld and power tools to assist with opening and screening cargo configurations
- Ensure accurate capture and completion of cargo screening logs for each piece of cargo screened
- Interact effectively with stakeholders, including airline customers, TSA agents, and CBP agents, responding professionally to inquiries
- Work in a demanding environment with noise, distractions, time pressure, and the responsibility to identify life-threatening devices
- Maintain security compliance with Airport Police, TSA, and CBP regulations
- Conduct challenge procedures for individuals not displaying proper airport credentials
- Follow Alarm Resolution Procedures and Cargo Rendered Unusable Procedures as per security programs
- Adhere to all airport and TSA security procedures
- Follow notification procedures when required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Possess and maintain a valid US driver’s license
- Pass all pre-employment testing, including drug testing and a physical
- Ability to proficiently read, write, and speak English
- Must be able to lift 70 lbs
- Must be comfortable working in all weather conditions
- Pass FBI background check and obtain a US Customs Seal
- Must be available and flexible to work variable shifts, including weekends and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience loading and unloading heavy products or equipment
- Forklift certification
