Caretaker

Permanent contract – part-time role (32 hours per week) with required start date of 20th October 2026.

The Governors of Leadgate Primary School are seeking a hardworking, reliable, and enthusiastic Caretaker to join our dedicated team. This vacancy follows the retirement of our highly valued caretaker. Responsibilities

• Day-to-day care of the school premises and grounds, including security and health and safety.
• Routine maintenance and cleaning supervision.
• Liaison with contractors.
• Working closely with school leaders and staff to support the best possible outcomes for children.
• Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Requirements

• Pride in work and excellent attention to detail.
• Practical, organised, and able to work independently.
• Good maintenance and DIY skills.
• Understanding of health and safety.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Commitment to safeguarding children.
• Ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English.

Schedule

• Monday to Friday: 6:00 AM – 9:15 AM and 3:00 PM – 5:45 PM.
• Additional 2 hours per week for site maintenance tasks.
• Annual leave to be taken during school closure periods.
