CARES - Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist

About the role

This position serves as a Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist (CARES) at ASPIRE, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals in their journey towards recovery from substance use disorders.

Responsibilities

• Deliver peer services in program and maintain 70% productivity.
• Provide peer support (group and individual) to individuals experiencing challenges with opioid use or use or misuse of other substances.
• Support families, friends, and allies who call, uphold the principles and values of recovery in all aspects of services provided, and provide connections to local recovery communities as appropriate and linkages to treatment and recovery support services when requested.
• Participate in case reviews.
• Prepare and maintain records of client progress and services performed, reporting changes in client condition to manager or supervisor.
• Provide transportation for clients/residents to appointments and activities.
• Arrange for needed medical care and provide needed services to assure that medical care is obtained.
• Assist in presenting educational group lectures related to appropriate topics.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and one year experience in a social services related position OR Completion of two years of college with at least 15 credit hours in a social services related field.
• Equipment that requires safe and effective use: (Include emergency equipment, treatment equipment and high risk equipment).
• Employee routinely performs tasks that involve exposure to blood or other potentially infectious material as a part of their assigned duties (Bloodborn pathogen category: Category 1).
• Mandatory Training: Administrative.

• Age-related and special needs of population served: Assist in building recovery-oriented system of care that supports self-directed pathways to recovery by building on the strengths and resilience of individuals, families and communities. Promote long-term recovery from substance use disorders by providing experienced peer support and advocating for self-directed care.
