Caregiver/ Home Health Aide- Elkins Park

About the role

The caregiver will assist in non-medical ADLs that a SCR client cannot safely or comfortably do alone. Assistance includes meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, laundry, shopping, pet care, and errands as needed. Additionally, the caregiver can provide companionship and assistance with meetings and appointments.

Responsibilities

• Aid in meal preparation and medication reminders
• Perform light housekeeping tasks
• Handle basic household chores like laundry and shopping
• Provide companionship through conversation and activities
• Assist with personal care needs such as bathing, grooming, and dressing
• Communicate with clients and their families
• Ensure client safety and comfort
• Participate in in-service meetings and training sessions
• Report any unsafe conditions to the staffing coordinator
• Support clients' emotional and mental well-being
• May assist with transferring patients and walking
• Receive oral and written assignments from supervisors

Requirements

• Eligible to work in the United States
• Good communication skills
• Basic compassion, understanding, empathy, and desire to serve elderly patients
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and manuals
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff
• Physical and mental health sufficient for the job
• Good personal hygiene and caring attitude
• Light physical exertion required

Qualifications

• One year of experience preferred
• CNA/HHA certification: one year preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent

Physical Demands

The job requires light physical exertion on a regular and recurring basis such as driving, assisting patients in transfer activities, and light housekeeping. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Environmental Hazard Disclosure

Care Takers may be exposed to environmental hazards in the patient home setting, including exposure to infectious diseases or while operating an automobile.

Experience

One year of experience preferred.
