Caregiver - DSP

About the role

Sertoma is seeking candidates who desire a family work environment with a passion to serve those who are less fortunate. Our caregivers serve as direct support professionals (DSP) for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in well‑maintained homes owned and managed by Sertoma. You will provide compassionate care, encouragement, and instruction throughout day‑to‑day life at one of 34 homes across Knoxville, TN. Each home serves 1–4 individuals, and caregivers are assigned no more than four individuals at a time.

Responsibilities

• Care for 1 to 4 persons supported at a time
• Perform personal and health‑care tasks such as basic hygiene and grooming, feeding, mobilization, and medical monitoring
• Provide daily documentation of confidential information
• Ensure personal safety by maintaining a safe environment
• Foster a positive relationship between caregiver and person served
• Accompany persons served to scheduled appointments

Requirements

• No prior DSP or caregiving experience necessary
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Tennessee driver’s license
• US work authorization
• At least 19 years of age
• 3 years of driving experience
• Written and verbal bilingual fluency is a plus

Schedule

Full‑time position with 12‑hour shifts.
