Caregiver

About the role

Visiting Angels in Lufkin is seeking compassionate caregivers to provide in-home care to senior adults and those in need across Deep East Texas, including San Augustine, Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Norwood, Chireno, and Rosevine. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in your community while broadening your skills through advanced training in areas like dementia and Alzheimer’s care.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (transferring assistance using hoyer lifts, gait belts, walkers, or wheelchairs)
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene (bathing assistance and incontinence care)
• Help clients with routine exercises
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from clients (when able)
• Do the client’s shopping or accompany them (grocery shopping, salon visits, doctor appointments)
• Perform light housekeeping duties clients can’t complete on their own
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion
• Report any unusual incidents
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency

Requirements

• Passion to serve others—a true caregiver
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid
• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
• Respectful and compassionate demeanor
• Experience with bathing assistance and incontinence care
• Experience transferring seniors using a hoyer lift or gait belt
• Strong ethics
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s and dementia care
• 2 years of professional experience with the elderly in a facility or with an agency, or a CNA certification

$11.00–$13.00 per hour
