Caregiver

About the role

Visiting Angels' Lufkin office provides caregivers for the Deep East Texas area, including Crockett, Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Berea, Pennington, Groveton, and surrounding communities. The position is ideal for individuals committed to compassionate senior care, with strong backgrounds in home or elderly care, community involvement, and a caring heart. Caregivers support seniors with a wide range of duties—from light housekeeping and meal preparation to mobility assistance and transportation—and have opportunities for advanced training in dementia and Alzheimer’s care.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication.
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside, including transferring assistance using Hoyer lifts, gait belts, walkers, or wheelchairs.
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene, including bathing assistance and incontinence care.
• Help clients with routine exercises.
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients when they are able.
• Do the client’s shopping or accompany them to grocery stores, salons, doctor appointments, etc.
• Perform light housekeeping duties that clients cannot complete on their own.
• Be a pleasant and supportive companion.
• Report any unusual incidents.
• Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency.

Requirements

• Passion to serve others—a true caregiver.
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid.
• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints.
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards.
• Respectful and compassionate demeanor.
• Experience with bathing assistance and incontinence care.
• Experience with transferring seniors using a Hoyer lift or gait belt.
• Strong ethics.
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s and dementia care.
• Two years of professional experience with the elderly in a facility or agency, or a CNA certification.

$11.00–$13.00 per hour
