A Caregiver with Visiting Angels Lufkin supports seniors through a variety of responsibilities, from light housekeeping and meal preparation to mobility assistance and transportation. The role also provides opportunities for advanced training in specialized areas like dementia and Alzheimer’s care.

Responsibilities

• Help clients take prescribed medication
• Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (including transferring assistance using hoyer lifts, gait belts, walkers, and wheelchairs)
• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene (bathing assistance and incontinence care)
• Help clients with routine exercises
• Plan and prepare meals with assistance from clients (when able)
• Perform grocery shopping or accompany clients to appointments (e.g., salon, doctor visits)
• Perform light housekeeping duties clients can’t complete on their own
• Act as a pleasant and supportive companion
• Report any unusual incidents
• Respond quickly and responsibly in emergencies

Requirements

• Passion for serving others—a true caregiver mindset
• Excellent knowledge of emergency response and first aid
• Knowledge of housekeeping activities and cooking with attention to dietary constraints
• Willingness to adhere to health and safety standards
• Respectful and compassionate demeanor
• Experience with bathing assistance and incontinence care
• Experience transferring seniors using a hoyer lift or gait belt
• Strong ethics and professionalism
• Knowledge of Alzheimer’s and dementia care
• 2 years of professional experience with the elderly in a facility or agency, or a CNA certification
