About the Role

This is an essential position which directly impacts the quality of life of each resident. The Care Manager focuses on maintaining an environment for socialization and independence while delivering personal care, assisting with activities, and performing housekeeping tasks. All actions must display respect for residents, family members, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the attainment of Victory Housing Mission Statement takes precedence over all decisions and actions.
  • Adhere to all Victory Housing policies and procedures, COMAR 10.07.14 regulations, and County, State, and Federal guidelines (including DOH, CDC, CMS, and OSHA).
  • Implement universal precautions and infectious disease control protocols; wear assigned PPE appropriately.
  • Complete all assigned training, including initial orientation, COMAR requirements, monthly in-services, HIPAA, and VHI personal care modules.
  • Participate in required safety and disaster drills.
  • Provide personal care needs, emotional support, and social stimulation to residents using the Eldermark platform and assigned iPad for documentation.
  • Assist residents according to their Individual Service Plan (ISP) and Care Tracker, accounting for their preferences, abilities, and expectations. Services include:
    • Assisting with showering/bathing, dressing, grooming (hair, makeup, teeth, dentures, shaving).
    • Assisting with toileting and reminders as needed.
    • Making beds and performing light housekeeping in resident suites (e.g., emptying trash, cleaning sinks, tidying rooms).
    • Toileting residents as assigned and documenting completion in Eldermark; reporting unusual behavior.
  • Serve meals in the dining room with attention to hospitality and customer service:
    • Walk residents to the dining room (wheelchairs are not permitted).
    • Set tables, prepare beverages, and ensure condiments are available.
    • Check that all residents are present before meal service; assist as needed.
    • Serve meals at safe temperatures, offer seconds, and assist with cutting food or refilling beverages.
    • Clear dishes, offer diabetic desserts, and clean the dining room within 30 minutes of the last resident.
    • Maintain and restock the Victory Drink, Snack, and Laugh Station every two hours.
  • Lead and participate in daily activities, fostering a fun and engaging environment; assist residents in attending activities.
  • Answer help and call bells within 3 minutes and take appropriate action.
  • Assist with incoming telephone calls professionally and take detailed messages.
  • Handle laundry, including washing soiled clothing needing immediate attention.
  • Provide physical support to residents, including ambulation, assisting after falls, and evacuating during emergencies (wheelchairs used only as directed by PT/OT).
  • Document information legibly in the Communication Log and read/sign before each shift.
  • Perform one-on-one activities with residents (e.g., reading, writing letters) and encourage self-care and independence.
  • Promote social interaction among residents, family, and staff.
  • Perform special duties such as cleaning laundry rooms or storage closets.
  • Ensure a safe environment by following safety procedures for lifting, transferring, fire/disaster protocols, infection control, and reporting hazards.
  • Maintain positive public relations and a supportive atmosphere for residents and coworkers.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and scheduled training sessions.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by a supervisor.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in caring for geriatric residents.
  • Training and experience as a certified nurse aide preferred.
  • Team player with good communication skills, a caring attitude, and genuine concern for seniors.
  • Must speak, read, and write in English.
  • Must be current on all vaccinations, including COVID-19 and CDC-recommended booster doses.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00 per hour, based on skills and experience. This position is non-exempt and overtime eligible.
