About the Role
Responsible for resident services and other duties as assigned, including appropriate delegation of duties to staff and volunteers. This role supports resident well-being through personal services, housekeeping, laundry, social-recreational activities, medication assistance, meal services, and other tasks as needed.
Reports to: Health Services Director/Designee
Responsibilities
- Adheres to and conveys the philosophy of supporting dignity, privacy, independence, choice, individuality, and a home-like environment for residents.
- Receives and gives report from the previous shift.
- Reviews assignments with the designated supervisor.
- Reads staff communication records and maintains familiarity with resident records as required.
- Assists with orientation of new staff to job responsibilities.
- Assists with instrumental activities of daily living (ADLs), environmental orientation, and other care while encouraging self-care and independence.
- Assists with setting up, serving meals, and cleaning up afterward.
- Provides services as indicated on resident service plans, including bathing assistance, toileting assistance, transfer, and mobility assistance.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and follows infection control procedures.
- Maintains a clean, neat, comfortable, and safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors, including housekeeping services for residents.
- Observes problems, concerns, and issues with resident units, the building, and the grounds and communicates them appropriately.
- Observes changes in resident status, needs, or preferences and communicates them appropriately.
- Adheres to all work, safety, and administrative rules, as well as established policies and procedures.
- Records resident information as required.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to procedures for fire, life safety, disaster, security, work, safety, and other emergency situations.
- Assists with individual resident and group social-recreational activities.
- Notifies nurse and/or designated agent(s) of resident status/change as appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Willingness to adhere to assisted living principles in providing services.
- Ability and willingness to perform all position responsibilities adequately.
- Maintains confidentiality of all information.
- Acceptable attendance record and adherence to work schedule.
- Displays cleanliness, good grooming, personal appearance, and follows dress requirements consistently.
- Organizes and utilizes time appropriately toward accomplishing assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
- Displays mature behavior and attitude in speech and action.
- Interacts professionally with residents, the public, and co-workers; works cooperatively with management and assists co-workers when needed.
- Adequate and clear English speaking and writing ability; able to communicate effectively.
- Ability to spend long periods on feet and to ambulate quickly.
- Ability to work safely and recognize potentially dangerous situations.
- Ability and willingness to follow all policies and procedures.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 35 pounds regularly.
- Routinely requires pushing, pulling, bending, walking, reaching, and stooping.
Qualifications
- 18–24 months of experience in a similar position.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred.
- Twelve (12) plus years of education preferred.
- Attendance at mandatory in-service training.
- Maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
- Meet in-service training hours required for job classification and position.
