About the role
The Summit of Edgewood is a dedicated provider of compassionate, high-quality care for seniors. Our team aims to create a welcoming environment where residents feel at home, supported, and valued. We are currently seeking a dedicated Caregiver to join our team.
Essential Duties
- Provide residents' care (i.e., grooming, bathing, dressing, oral care, etc.) daily and as needed
- Change bed linen and regularly maintain appropriate grooming supplies in the resident's room
- Ambulate and transfer residents, utilizing appropriate assistive devices and body mechanics
- Record resident vital signs, weights and measurements, intake and output, food consumption, and other information, as assigned
- Routinely turn and position residents as necessary
- Prepare each resident's room with necessary items such as blankets, pillows, medical equipment, and toiletries
- Respond to call lights/buzzers promptly and courteously, considering each light an emergency until answered
- Seek assistance from the charge nurse when unsure of an assignment, procedure, or situation
- Provide care that protects and promotes resident rights, dignity, privacy, confidentiality and active participation
- Offer and respect resident choices and handle all resident property with respect
- Observe and immediately report to Charge Nurse, ADON or DON unusual occurrences, significant changes in resident's physical or behavioral condition, patterns of decreased social interaction, angry or sad behaviors, and refusals of treatment
- Work independently, maintain confidentiality and professionalism, and be a positive leader
- Maintain good working relationships with residents and co-workers
- Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned
Work Experience Requirements
- Prior experience giving personal care to individuals in a health care setting preferred
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills
- Highest level of professionalism with the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Enthusiasm and a positive attitude
- Practical interpersonal skills as well as sound judgment and good decision-making skills
