Caregiver
Pay
$18.50–$21.00 per hour based on qualifications (such as CNA).
Schedule
Full‑time and part‑time opportunities available.
Location
Serving Rapid City, Spearfish, Custer, Hot Springs, and surrounding Black Hills communities.
About the role
At Home Instead of the Black Hills, we believe getting older doesn’t mean life stops. Aging adults deserve the opportunity to continue living life the way they envision it in the place they know and love most: home. Our Care Pros help aging adults remain safe, independent, comfortable, and connected — whether that means assisting with personal care, preparing a meal, noticing a change and speaking up, or simply sitting down for a conversation. The impact reaches beyond the person receiving care, providing peace of mind for families and helping create a better “What’s Next” for everyone involved.
Benefits
- Paid training — whether you’re experienced or just starting out
- Flexible scheduling — tell us the days and timeframes you’re consistently available and we’ll match you with clients who need care during those times
- 24/7 support — call any time, day or night, for help on the job
- Paid time off
- Reserve fund — builds alongside your regular wages as you reliably show up for clients
- Quarterly bonus program
- Additional benefits for full‑time employees:
- Dental and vision insurance
- Short‑term disability coverage
- $50/month credit for Aflac policies of your choice
- Retirement savings options
- Ongoing skills development and support through routine check‑ins and reviews
- Recognition and appreciation through Care Pro of the Month and Care MVP
- Opportunities for career growth
Responsibilities
As a Care Pro, you’ll provide non‑medical support based on each client’s individual needs, including:
- Companionship, conversation, and activities
- Personal care assistance, including bathing and toileting
- Meal preparation
- Light housekeeping
- Transportation to appointments and errands
- Medication reminders
- Safety oversight and support
No two clients are exactly alike, and no two days of caregiving look exactly the same. What remains the same is the opportunity to help another person maintain their dignity, independence, connection, and comfort at home.
Qualifications
A great Care Pro isn’t defined by a license or certification, but by the choices they make every day. You may thrive on our team if you:
- Show up when you say you will because you understand someone is depending on you
- Build genuine relationships while maintaining professional boundaries
- Notice the little things and speak up when something changes
- Are comfortable assisting with personal needs such as bathing and toileting
- Ask questions and reach out for help when you’re unsure
- Approach people with patience, dignity, and empathy
- Understand that sometimes companionship and conversation are just as important as completing a task
- Take accountability for the quality of care you provide
- Want your work to mean something to the people you serve
CNA or caregiving experience is welcome but not required.

- A reliable vehicle for your shifts
