About the role

You go to people’s homes and help them with daily life. Mostly older adults. Baths, getting dressed, meals, light cleaning, errands, companionship. This is physical work—you help people move around and you’re on your feet most of the day. You do not give medicine or do medical tasks; that’s for nurses.

Pay

$18/hour — STNA license (active or expired)
$16–18/hour — HHA certificate or experience, based on interview
$16/hour — free training pathway
$19–20/hour — when you refer and care for a private-pay client
10% extra on holidays

Paid every 2 weeks via direct deposit. W-2 job. Drive time between clients is paid; drive time to your first client or from your last client is not.

Built-in raises

Three raises in your first 2 years:

90-day review: +$0.50/hour
1-year review: +$0.50/hour more
2-year review: +$1.00/hour more

Miss one? It carries over to your next review. Your increases stack on top of any starting rate.

How raises work

At 90 days, 1 year, and 2 years you fill out an evaluation form. You grade yourself on 11 items, then we grade you on the same items. Score all 1s (highest) on every item and the raise is automatic.

Attendance bonus

$100 after 30 days with perfect attendance—every shift on time, zero call-offs.

Referral bonuses

$300 when you refer a caregiver who stays—$100 when they hit 60 hours, $200 more at 200 hours
$75–$1,500 when you refer a private-pay client, based on their hours

Qualification paths

Pick the path that fits you. All four lead to the same job.

Path 1: STNA License (fastest start)

Pay: $18/hour
Need: STNA license in Ohio—active or expired
Timeline: 1–3 days if you move fast

Your STNA means you already passed the state test, so you skip our written and skills test. Apply with your STNA license number, complete a 20-minute phone talk and a short online questionnaire, sign paperwork online, finish a 30–40 minute online orientation with document verification, and complete fingerprinting.

Path 2: HHA Certificate

Pay: $16–18/hour based on interview
Need: HHA certificate (30+ hours, signed by an RN unless completed online)
Timeline: 5–8 days to working

Apply and send your certificate, complete a 20-minute phone talk and a short online questionnaire, take the HHA test at our Cuyahoga Falls office (scheduled with you), sign paperwork online, finish a 30–40 minute online orientation with document verification, and complete fingerprinting.

Path 3: Experience under a licensed nurse

Pay: $16–18/hour based on interview
Need: 1+ year at one company where your supervisor was an RN or LPN
Timeline: 5–8 days after we verify your experience

Acceptable settings: nursing homes, hospitals, Medicare-certified skilled home health agencies, assisted living with licensed nurses on staff. Does not count: non-medical home care agencies, private caregiving for family or friends, any job where your supervisor was not a licensed nurse.

Ohio law requires us to verify your experience by calling your former employer directly to confirm dates, 1+ year of work, and that your supervisor was an RN or LPN. This pathway will not work if your former employer uses The Work Number or another third-party verification service, has closed, or cannot confirm RN/LPN supervision.

Apply with your former employer’s name, phone number, your RN/LPN supervisor’s name and title, and the dates you worked there. We call to verify; once confirmed, we schedule your phone talk, short online questionnaire, HHA test in Cuyahoga Falls, paperwork, orientation, and fingerprinting.

Path 4: No experience (we train you free)

Need: Willingness to help people
Timeline: 1–2 weeks to working

Apply, complete a 20-minute phone talk and a short online questionnaire, finish free 32-hour online HHA training at home (6 days to finish; not paid), take the HHA test in Cuyahoga Falls, sign paperwork online, finish a 30–40 minute online orientation with document verification, and complete fingerprinting.

HHA test

Ohio requires all Home Health Aides to pass a competency test (written and skills). You need 80% on both. Both parts are in person at our Cuyahoga Falls office. We schedule a time that works for you. Already passed an HHA test elsewhere with 80%+? Show us your results and you may skip it. STNAs skip the test entirely—your license proves you passed.

What you need

Driver’s license
Your own car with insurance that covers work driving
Pass background checks
Work at least 20 hours/week
Available between 6 AM–8 PM (most work is 8 AM–5 PM)
Legal right to work in the U.S.
At least 18 years old

Schedule and travel

Shifts can be 2–3 hours, 4–6 hours, or 8 hours depending on client needs. Most caregivers have 2–4 regular clients per week. Want more hours? Pick up extra fill-in shifts anytime.

We match clients within the travel range you set during your phone interview. If you set limits (pets, smoking, travel distance, days/times), we only assign clients that fit those limits. If no immediate match exists in your area, you’re first in line when one opens up.

Your first 2 weeks involve fill-in shifts to gauge reliability; permanent clients are assigned as soon as a match is available.
