Careers Strategy & Action Plan
The school employs a full-time careers advisor, Mr. Aftab, who is a registered practitioner with relevant qualifications. Year 11 students have the opportunity for a face-to-face meeting with Mr. Aftab and receive a personal action plan to help with their post-16 options. Additional meetings are available for further support.
Library Resources
The school library has a dedicated careers area where students can access a wide range of resources including prospectuses from 6th forms, colleges, and universities, employer information, apprenticeship and entrepreneurial reference books, and guidance books like How to Write a CV.
External Partnerships
We partner with universities and employers to support students in making successful applications and achieving their career goals. We also provide information and guidance on apprenticeships and vocational education.

Information for Parents and Carers
For parents and carers, we offer information and support on various aspects of education and career development for young people aged 16-24.
Employment and Training
We provide information and support for individuals who are unemployed or seeking work. We also offer guidance on apprenticeships and vocational education.
Volunteering and Community Engagement
Young people can participate in the National Citizen Service, which includes team-building activities, community engagement, and opportunities to enhance their CV and confidence.
Risky Jobs Analysis
We analyze the risks associated with various industries and provide insights into the potential costs to businesses. We also share real stories to inspire career choices.
Subject Guidance
To help students make informed choices about their future study and career paths, we provide guides such as the Informed Choices from the Russell Group, which offers advice on subject combinations for university courses.
Required Subjects
Some advanced level subjects are more frequently required for entry to degree courses than others. These are called 'facilitating' subjects and include Biology, Chemistry, English Literature, Geography, History, Physics, Modern and Classical Languages, Maths, and Further Maths. Taking two facilitating subjects can keep a wide range of degree courses open to students.
