About the role

Manage and implement all aspects of a silviculture program including reforestation, vegetation management, and tree improvement. Collaborate in the development of silvicultural budgets and forecasts. Assist with the timber harvest program, including performing harvest unit layout and permitting, administering road building and logging contracts, and ensure log quality control. Professionally and effectively interact with state regulatory agencies and diverse groups. Maintain essential documentation and critical databases related to reforestation activities. Effectively work both within a team setting as well as independently in remote areas. Perform forestry-related projects in a wide range of weather and field conditions using maps, compass, or GPS. Assist and collaborate in other forestry work on the district as needed.

Requirements

• 3 years’ experience in silviculture in the Pacific Northwest
• Bachelor’s degree in forestry, natural resources, or related field, or equivalent recent, relevant work experience
• Understanding of silvicultural practices and cost considerations
• Work experience with Washington forest practice rules
• Valid Washington driver’s license or the ability to obtain a valid Washington driver’s license
• Demonstrated ability to drive hazardous mountain roads
• Skilled with Word, Outlook, Excel, and ArcGIS software
• Excellent organizational skills, self-motivated, and a strong work ethic
