About the Role
This position focuses on recruiting and retaining 50 youth into employability skills training, unsubsidized employment, and long-term career placement. You will develop and implement employer engagement strategies to create unsubsidized work experiences for youth aged 18–24, with a target placement range of 20–24 youth in both part- and full-time roles. Employment verifications are required at 30, 60, 90, and 120 days.
Responsibilities
- Assist with recruiting and retaining youth in employability skills training and unsubsidized employment.
- Develop and implement an employer engagement strategy to secure unsubsidized work experiences for youth.
- Market, recruit, and maintain relationships with employers to support long-term youth employment.
- Help youth identify career goals and develop Individualized Career Plans, including employment placements aligned with those goals.
- Collaborate with SGA leadership to organize hiring events and job fairs for youth.
- Work with youth advocates, justice system representatives, and other stakeholders to support youth compliance with mandates.
- Co-facilitate employability skills training to prepare youth for gainful employment.
- Cultivate relationships with local community resources to support youth development.
- Connect clients with job opportunities, training programs, and educational resources to enhance employability.
- Track and document clients’ progress toward career goals, adjusting plans as needed.
- Guide clients through career assessments to identify interests, skills, and suitable career paths.
- Identify barriers to employment and provide referrals to appropriate resources.
- Re-engage youth with inconsistent attendance and work with families to bring resources into the home.
- Attend mandatory trainings implemented by SGA or funders.
- Maintain up-to-date and compliant participant files.
- Transport students to and from program-related activities as required.
- Respond promptly to written correspondence, emails, and phone calls.
- Meet program deadlines for youth and staff timesheet submission, reporting, and activities.
- Update the Enterprise Case Management System (ECM) weekly with youth enrollment, attendance, and activities.
- Attend supervision, team meetings, and professional workshops to enhance job skills.
- Administer SGA and DFSS surveys at the end of the program to assess participant experience.
- Conduct data entry for youth enrollment, daily attendance, and activities, ensuring all required components (e.g., Work Plan, DFSS Youth Intake Forms, activity logs) are completed.
- Maintain participant files, Bus Card logs, timesheets, and all required DFSS documentation.
- Prepare and submit required reports and data materials, such as the Employability and Life Skills Assessment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Experience working one-on-one with at-risk youth involved in the juvenile justice system.
- Ability to display sensitivity and responsiveness to cultural differences in the service population.
- Experience in case management or job counseling is preferred.
- Knowledge of the job market and career development resources.
- Bachelor’s Degree in social work, criminal justice, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with young adults aged 18–24 is preferred.
Conditions of Employment
- Evening and weekend availability required.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance for work-related travel.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to remain stationary 50% of the time.
- Must be able to frequently move inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Must be able to transport oneself to and from home visits.
- Occasionally ascends/descends stairs.
- Constantly moves to assist during program activities.
- May be required to lift up to 25 lbs. for various needs.
- Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions.

Pay
$22/hour.
